This is a 4-day workshop where students will gain value from interaction with end-users in industry, government and civil society. The aim is to equip STARS students with skills applicable to the environment sector: skills for policy-makers/regulators; industry and business; and NGOs and charities.
Students and supervisors will work together to plan a fully funded internship programs focussed on an applied soil issue, embedded within an overseas collaborating Institute. We have established links with many research institutes and universities worldwide for these internships (e.g. France, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Kenya, Russia, Indonesia, Australia, USA, Canada, Chile).
This aims to bring the 3rd year student cohort together for a 5-day intense soils research adventure to be held at the Rothamsted North Wyke Farm Platform. Students will work together to plan a short field campaign to address a fundamental issue which can result in a STARS-authored journal publication in an ISI Journal.
As part of widening the student experience we will take all the STARS students to an international conference (e.g. Annual European Geosciences Union (EGU) Conference in Vienna).
